The Newtown High School Girls Tennis Team team is undefeated in their conference. It has been over six years since NHS Girls Varsity Tennis has beaten Weston. This match was full of excitement and anxiety! Coach Maher and Asst. Coach Frazzetta are thrilled with the team’s success!   Singles:  1st Caroline Kelly vs. Kimmy Guerin 1-6 1-6 loss; 2nd Lauren Frazzetta vs. Catherine Kravchenko 6-3 6-2 win; 3rd Mia Terracino vs. Kristen Rivera 6-2 6-1 win;  4th Alyssa Ruenfenacht vs. Forfeit win; Doubles:  1st Julia Frattaroli/Stephanie Roman vs. Jessy Gersh/Morgan Murray 6-1 6-2 win; 2nd Annie Beier/Maggie Kost vs. Sarah Greisman/Julia Weisman 6-0 6-1 win; 3rd Meghan Logan/Aimee Alexander vs. McKenzie Murray/Bari Blitzer 6-1 6-2 win.

The 2012 Latino Youth Leadership Conference, sponsored by the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI), Manchester Community College (MCC), Capital Community College (CCC) and the Connecticut Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission (LPRAC), will be held at Capital Community College on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 8:30am to 1:30pm.  Middle school, high school, and college students, as well as parents, are invited. Congratulations to Stephen Conway and Rachel DiVanno for being selected by the faculty of Newtown High School to receive the annual William Honan Lions Award (formerly the Lions Club Past President Award and Trull Award). The award recognizes the “Best All Around Junior Students” and is based upon a strong academic record, extraordinary leadership skills, a commitment to community, and outstanding character.
